French Reading and Listening Resource

How can you make your kids read better? Well, that’s easy: just give them more books to read 🙂

I’m (kind of) kidding, of course, but the more they read, the better readers they will be.

If you do guided reading in your classroom, particularly in the lower grades, you know how fast your students go through books.

So you need more books!

And that’s what I’ve got for you today.

However, this set includes MORE than printables–it also includes audio files with the text in the emergent readers being read!

French reading and listening resource: emergent reader books PLUS audio tracks for listening practice! LEVEL A

I’d like to introduce the first set in my new line of emergent readers.

Differently from the 50 titles included in the bundle available in my TpT store, the set I’m presenting today includes audio files for listening practice!

French Reading and Listening Resource

There are 6 emergent readers (Level A) and corresponding sound files.

Everything comes in lots of options.

For example, the readers are available in B&W and color in 2 different sizes (full-page and half-page).

You can see the six titles included in the set in the picture below:

  • Le soleil brille: the sun shines over different places in the city
  • Ils peuvent voler: some animals that can fly and one that can’t
  • Les animaux de la ferme: I guess this one is self-explanatory
  • Lucas aime lire: each child has their preferences
  • Les chats dans la cuisine: how many cats and who feeds them all?
  • Ils travaillent fort!: professions where the masculine and the feminine words are different, or the same.

There’s also a version for tracing sentences that you may or may not choose to insert into page protectors (not pictured). They’re great post-listening activities.

Read: FREE Exit Tickets

I’ve also included PDF versions that you can upload onto tablets and computers so that you won’t even have to print anything if you don’t want to (but you’ll need a PDF reader to use them, e.g. iBooks on the iPad)

Students can follow the book on the tablet or computer while listening to the story.

I’ve put together 2 audio files for each book: one narrated by a person with Canadian accent and the other narrated by a person with French accent.

As always, I like to offer many options for teachers to choose what they prefer 🙂

Check out the IG post below to hear one of the audio files (but keep in mind that the sound is coming from an old iPhone).

Kids can read the books, or listen to the audio files, or listen while reading. Or they can do all of those activities for different titles or at different times. It’s really up to you.

Your choice will depend on the need of your students and nobody knows them better than you 🙂

Of course, I include a few suggestions in the resource and you can always email me for more ideas!
