Want to encourage students in your French classroom to speak and write in the target language? This set of French storytelling dice will engage them in a speaking activity (or writing activity) that’s fun and simple to set up.

French Storytelling Dice

Your students will have plenty of fiction narrative ideas to write or talk about with the dice included in this printable file.

“Who?”, “where?”, “when?”, and “what?” are the basic questions they need to answer in order to tell a story.

They roll the dice and have to come up with stories that include the elements they rolled.

Your students will love coming up with sentences and even whole stories. No more of that “I don’t know what write about!” excuse from kids. They’ll be using French and having fun with it.

Are your students real beginners in French?

No worries! Just use two dice (place and character) and have kids create really simple sentences.

Are your students intermediate?

Easy peasy! Just use two dice for characters, the setting die, and the time dice. For extra challenge and a bit of competitive kick, have teams write about the same elements and see who can create the most original story!
