French Winter Resources

Here are some French winter resources for your classroom.

They should work for both the French Immersion and the Core French classrooms.

Click on the titles or the images to check the items out on my TpT store.

French Winter Reading Comprehension Worksheets: students cut and paste high-frequency words to fill in the gaps in 15 texts, answer multiple choice comprehension questions, and work on reading fluency! Each text comes in 2 alternative versions so you can differentiate the activity. Includes printable version and optional digital Boom Cards version.

My students love this resource! I love that is is low prep and rich in language! It’s a perfect addition to our reading and writing routine. Merci!

Lisa M.

French Winter Vocabulary Practice for Google Slides™: students drag and drop words to label images, type to copy words, and more! For Google Slides/Google Classroom. Who says digital can’t be fun and effective? Check it out!

It was a great resource to use with my Core French grades 4 and 5. I liked how scaffolded the activities were and made it easy for my students to progress. Great for students’ independent use (I used it for homework assignments that we later took up in class). Students commented on how much they enjoyed the pictures and overall found it it fun to do this work! Merci beaucoup!

Irina K.

French Winter Emergent Reader: This printable winter reader will help your students recognize, read, and write the word HIVER in different sentences. Add this printable booklet to your set of French winter activities! Includes a “big” full-page book to use in shared reading, or to add to a classroom library.

I liked the different formats available which allowed me to give different versions to different students based on their abilities/skills/knowledge.

Roberta M.

French Winter Seven Differences Game: great for visual discrimination. Also works well to practice writing or speaking because you can have your students write the differences they find, or tell you what the differences are!

My kindergarten students loved this activity.

French Phonics Colour by Code: Winter – students colour the image according to the code to practice sounds in French (graphemes). When they complete the colouring, the image is revealed.

Fun activity for my students to decompress with, while still practicing their French sounds!

Kerry M.

French Winter Vocabulary Puzzles: these puzzles are self-correcting, but I’ve included an answer-recording sheet so students can “show you the work”. Great for independent literacy centres.
